What is the BiberBox?
The BiberBox is a modular camping box system for quickly converting your everyday vehicle (high-roof station wagon or minibus) into a mini camper.

Who is the BiberBox suitable for?

Installation and conversion / use

How does the BiberBox installation work?

The BiberBox is assembled like a 3D puzzle, either inside or outside the car, without tools, and is ready for use in just a few minutes. Installation videos and instructions can be found in our media library.

Do I need special tools or expertise for installation?
No, the box is designed for immediate use and arrives pre-assembled.

Can I quickly disassemble/assemble the BiberBox again?

Yes, installation/removal is completed in under 5 minutes, ideal for spontaneous trips, everyday journeys and holidays.

Is the BiberBox-me also suitable for minibuses (VW T5, Mercedes Viano etc.)?

The BiberBox me is unsuitable for vans and minibuses. The folded-down second row of seats is necessary to support the BiberBox's sleeping platform. Since the height of the folded seats in most vans exceeds the maximum tolerance of 40 cm, a flat sleeping surface cannot be created. Even if alternative support elements are used instead of the rear seats (e.g., Eurobox: https://www.bauhaus.info/kunststoffboxen/bauhaus-eurobehaelter/p/10753223 ), the BiberBox me lacks lateral support due to the width of the cargo space.

Function and technology

Does the plug system rattle while driving?

No, the connectors are precisely aligned thanks to CNC milling and, in combination with the multiplex wood, are very dimensionally stable. The connector system is designed for quiet and safe travel. Customer feedback confirms that there is no annoying rattling, as the parts are firmly connected.

How should the sleeping platform of the BiberBox be supported in the vehicle?

The box uses the folded-down rear seats to stabilize the sleeping platform. In vehicles with rear seats that fold almost flush with the floor, the sleeping platform is supported by U-profile rails mounted on the sides and two small supports in the box's tailgate. For certain models, we offer the "Unterbau-me" (undercarriage) for the Biberbox-me to adjust the box's height to match the height of the folded-down rear seats.

How much weight can the lying surface of the BiberBox support?

If the sleeping surface rests on the folded-down rear seats, the sleeping/payload capacity has been tested up to 250 kg. If the sleeping surface is stabilized using U-profile rails due to the rear seats being folded flat to the floor, the sleeping/payload capacity has been tested up to 150 kg.

Is the sleeping surface comfortable? Does it have a slatted frame/mattress?
The BiberBox provides a stable wooden base as a substructure for a sleeping platform. The BiberBox deliberately avoids including a standard mattress, as these rarely meet individual needs. For optimal sleeping comfort, customers can purchase affordable mattresses that suit their requirements from retailers, saving even more compared to fully equipped camping modules from other providers.

Can the lying surface be adjusted to be completely flat?

Yes – the lying surface can be adjusted to be completely flat. To do this, the front seats must be moved forward accordingly. The tilt of the headrest shown in many example images is merely intended to illustrate the adjustment option using the two straps.

Practical Questions & Accessories

Can I integrate accessories such as a cooler, cooktop, or storage boxes?
Yes, our boxes offer structured storage space. They feature a three-part design with two enclosed outer compartments and a large main compartment open into the cargo area. Here you can integrate accessories such as gas stoves, water canisters, coolers, storage boxes, or foldable car organizers to suit your individual needs.

Which mattress do you recommend?
The BiberBox does not include a mattress. Sleeping comfort is always a personal matter. Therefore, users should take the time to find a mattress that is ideal for their individual needs. Feel free to find inspiration in our blog post here .

Is there an outdoor kitchen/solution?
No. The BiberBox focuses on the camping box inside the vehicle. The box itself can function as a kitchen in the car. The open front flap rests flush with the edge of the cargo area and can thus be used as a table. It's also possible to integrate a gas stove on a pull-out shelf, which can then be used as a cooking surface. A canister with a tap can serve as a water source and also fits inside the BiberBox.

Can I use the box outside as a bench or table?
Yes, some customers also use the BiberBox outside the vehicle. Since the box is not permanently attached to the vehicle, you can easily lift it out using the side handles and use it as a seat or table.

Will an electric cooler fit in the BiberBox-me?
Yes - the BiberBox-me is relatively shallow at 33 cm high and therefore unsuitable for many coolers. Ideally, the cooler inside the BiberBox should be no more than 27 cm high. If the cooler is placed outside the BiberBox, its height must be no more than 32 cm, otherwise the surface underneath cannot be made level. What standard accessories do you recommend for the BiberBox?

The BiberBox is designed to use inexpensive, readily available camping accessories. Equipping the BiberBox to be comparable to other manufacturers' all-in-one camping modules requires as little as €120 in the best-case scenario. Here's a list of our favorite value-for-money options:

The mattresses (folding, collapsible or guest mattresses) can be purchased via various online shops, Amazon or eBay for approximately €80-250 each (e.g. folding mattress (dimensions 200 x 120 x 10 cm): https://amzn.to/4iuMDD6 ).
The single-burner gas stove, measuring 34 x 29 x 12 cm, is also a standard product and is available for approximately €20 - €50. (e.g. gas cartridge stove (fits on the shelf - left storage compartment): https://amzn.to/3Qr2oQq ).
The water canister should not exceed the dimensions 20 x 23 x 44 cm and can also be purchased online for approximately €15 - €30 (15L water canister (fits in the right storage compartment): https://amzn.to/3vWeljS ).

Am I too tall for the BiberBox-me at 1.90 cm?

No, even those who are 1.90 m or 2.00 m tall can sleep comfortably on the BiberBox in the standard (not Maxi) versions of high-roof station wagons. The BiberBox-me has a built-in sleeping area of 185 x 112 cm. This provides ample space for a mattress measuring 200 x 120 cm. With a mattress thickness of 8-10 cm, the side overhang and the overhang at the head and foot are not noticeable.
